WASH United
It’s hard to believe that globally, 4 out of 10 people lack access to something as basic as a clean toilet. It’s hard to believe that diarrhea resulting from dirty water, a lack of toilets and poor hygiene kills more children than malaria, measles and HIV/AIDS combined. It’s hard to believe that every year; 443 million school days are lost due to water- and sanitation-related diseases. It’s hard to believe that the global economic damage caused by poor sanitation is estimated at a staggering $ 260 billion per year.
That’s where WASH United comes in.
Whether a hand-washing campaign around an international football tournament in Uganda, a travelling WASH carnival across northern India, a campaign in public toilets in Kenya, or our trademark WASH in Schools program, WASH United’s interventions always harness the power of fun, interactive games, superstar role models and strictly positive communication. WASH training's in schools and youth sport teams across Sub-Saharan Africa and India have already benefited more than 80,000 children and adolescents. Already 280 million people are reached through campaigns and media work.

Design For Change
Design for Change (DFC) is a global movement that cultivates the ‘I Can’ mindset in every child. This ‘I Can’ spirit empowers children and gives them an opportunity to express their own ideas for a better world and put them into action. Through a simple design process of Feel-Imagine-Do-Share, we asked children to identify and transform anything that bothered them in their community – shifting their mindset from ‘Can I?’ to ‘I Can!’
In over 30 different countries, DFC has seen children stepping up and learning that the power to create change lies in them as much as with the adults who educate and influence their lives.
